At Kelda Kraft, we’re developing solutions to bring small-scale hydropower plants into the future, turning them into flexibility resources for the energy market. By creating intelligent control systems to coordinate hydro power production and utilise supercapacitors, we’re enabling these resources to operate in the frequency market and help stabilise the power grid. You’ll join a team backed by industrial investor Tinfos, Innovation Norway and Forskningsrådet, working alongside highly skilled colleagues at Kelda Dynamics in Porsgrunn.

Do you thrive on solving what others believe is unsolvable? Are you passionate about using mathematical tools and software to develop pioneering solutions?
Would you like to contribute to every stage of software development, from researching problems and designing innovative solutions to implementing prototypes and perfecting the final product? If you’re nodding along, this role might be the perfect fit for you. Come help build the future with us!
What You’ll Do:
Join Kelda Kraft AS, a startup set out to build pioneering technology for energy optimisation and stabilisation of the power grid through advanced software. We’re combining physics-based and data-driven modeling with state-of-the-art control and machine learning methods to build cutting edge autonomous solutions.
You’ll dive into complex R&D tasks like:
- Modeling the dynamics of hydro power systems and power grid to serve as digital twins for simulation, estimation and control
- Developing learning algorithms that fit models to real-world data.
- Using models to develop advanced autonomous control solutions.
- Creating predictive solutions to optimise operation and detect problems.
Who You Are:
- You have an engineering degree (M.Sc./Ph.D.) within cybernetics engineering, dynamical systems, optimization, estimation, or control.
- You’re fluent in mathematical modeling, coding, automation, control systems, and/or machine learning.
- Your expertise lies in fields like parameter estimation, machine learning/AI, nonlinear systems, Kalman filters, Bayesian methods, and adaptive control design.
- Knowledge of hydro power, power grid or power electronics technologies are an avantage, but not a requirement.
If you specialise in one or more of these areas, you’ll be a great fit!
Personal Traits We Value:
- Someone who are structured and good at planning.
- You can break down complex problems into concrete, manageable tasks.
- You combine theoretical knowledge with practical problem-solving.
- You love team collaboration but also enjoy diving deep into technical challenges.
- Motivated by solving the unsolvable, and thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
